“VIYM helped our students orient themselves in the proper direction and understand where their bodies should be via VIYM’s raised foot/hand orientation marks.  The landmarks were easily identified and very helpful in performing the various yoga postures. They accelerated the students’ learning curve and level of confidence. Using VIYM also makes our instructors more efficient, and allowed us to keep more on task during PE. Thank you, Tracy!”

“I was amazed at how quickly the students, both blind and partially sighted, used VIYM’s markings to align their bodies and transition into the various postures. I was even more surprised that of 12 students who grudgingly participated, 10 said they would continue yoga given the opportunity.

We are striving to make PE more relevant to students’ needs. Our principal is very supportive, and agrees that yoga belongs in ISBV’s program. Yoga can easily transfer to an after school activity: we can offer it as an evening recreation program as well as encourage highly motivated students to participate in the local YMCA classes, enabling them to join in a mainstream activity.

I have witnessed firsthand how a lack of flexibility, balance and strength affects the quality of daily life. I’m hoping that this positive experience encourages students to stay with yoga and incorporate it as part of a healthy lifestyle.”

This is so cool! Jhaliyah said as her hands explored her mat. All four students smiled as their fingers scrambled over the raised surfaces of their VIYMs…”
